Case study · Oil & Gas / Energy · Doha, Qatar
A Doha energy contractor ran QHSE on paper forms and spreadsheets — incidents reported days late, audits assembled by email. ITSECOPS digitized the QHSE management system on SharePoint and Power Platform: incident reporting from any device, automated workflows, and audit packs generated instead of assembled.
The client
An energy sector contractor headquartered in Doha working on client sites where QHSE performance is a condition of staying on the bid list.
The challenge
Field crews reported incidents on paper that reached the QHSE manager days later. Near-misses went unreported, corrective actions had no owner-tracking, and every client audit meant a week of hunting evidence across inboxes.
What we did
- Built mobile-first incident and near-miss reporting (Power Apps) usable from a phone at site — with photos, location and offline capture.
- Automated the workflow: triage, investigation assignment, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) with owners, due dates and escalation.
- Created QHSE registers on SharePoint — incidents, risk assessments, permits, training and certification expiry — each with version history and access control.
- Delivered management dashboards: TRIR/LTIF trends, open actions by site, overdue training — live, not month-end.
- Aligned the record structure to ISO 45001/14001/9001 clauses so audit evidence exports in the shape auditors ask for it.
Results
- Incident reporting lag: days → same shift; near-miss reporting volume up (the healthy direction).
- Client audit preparation reduced from a week to hours.
- Zero lost CAPA actions since go-live — every action has an owner and an escalation path.
FAQ
What does a digital QHSE management system include?
Incident/near-miss reporting, risk and permit registers, CAPA workflow, training and certification tracking, and live KPI dashboards — on a platform your staff already licence, like Microsoft 365.
Why build QHSE on SharePoint and Power Platform instead of a dedicated tool?
Most contractors already pay for Microsoft 365 — building there avoids another per-user subscription, keeps data in your tenant and integrates with the document management you already run.
How long does QHSE digitization take?
A first release — incident reporting plus CAPA — typically ships in 4–6 weeks; registers and dashboards follow iteratively.
